“My Wife wants to use paint for our pool. Which Pool Paint product should I use?”
There are a number of factors to consider. The most important being: is there a previous paint on the pool already? If so, try to determine what type of paint was last used.
• Epoxy Pool Paints can only be used over another solvent-based epoxy.

“Can I paint my hot tub?”
Due to extended elevated temperatures, we do not recommend painting spas and hot tubs.

“What is the best pool paint for previously unpainted fibreglass?”
Epoxy Pool Paints is best used for fibreglass pool shells.

“What colours are available in the Pool Paints?”
Pool Paints comes in White, Black/Charcoal, Light Blue and Dark Blue. Special colours are available for large projects only.

“How many coats of paint should I apply?”
Always apply two coats of paint to ensure complete sealing of the substrates or the previous coating.

“Can I spray the Pool Paint?”
Yes, any Pool Paint can be sprayed, rolled or brushed.

“How much time do I have to apply the Epoxy Pool Paint?”
Epoxy is a two-component material requiring the two components, base and activator which must be mixed together and thoroughly stirred using an electrical agitator. Epoxy uses the latest in curing technologies and does not require any induction times like traditional epoxy pool paints. Once mixed you will have 90 minutes “pot-Life” at ambient temperatures to apply the epoxy before it starts to thicken and turn solid. So make sure that you mix only what you can use within an allotted time.

“How long do I have to wait between coats?”
At ambient temperatures, the Swimming Pool paints should be allowed 16 hours minimum before re-coating.

“I’ve finished painting, when can I refill my pool?”
In good drying conditions, an outdoor pool requires 7 days of good weather before refilling the pool. For every day of rainy weather, add one more day to the 7 days. Indoor pools require 2 weeks due to the reduced ventilation and circulation inherent with indoor pools. Heat or direct exposure to hot sun and weather unfortunately will not speed up these required cure times.

“What if it rains within the 7 days?”
If this happens, pump the water out the bottom of the pool as soon as you safely can. As long as the pool paint has at least a day to dry before getting hit by rain, it should be fine. Just don’t let it sit under any water for any longer than necessary. Important: do not cover the pool with a tarp to protect if from the rain. This does more harm than good by trapping solvent in the paint and not allowing the paint to cure properly.

“How long will my pool paint last?”
There are many factors that affect the life of the pool paint, including the number of coats applied, climate, the strength of chlorination, chemical balance, exposure to direct sun, colour selection, amount of pool use and cleaning schedules. With this many variables, it’s impossible to predict a pool paint's life.
