Technical Details
- Surface Compatibility: Recommended for exterior surfaces. Not suitable for bathrooms or areas requiring high washability.
- Packaging: Available in 1L, 5L, and 20L containers.
- Colour Options: Standard shades available (refer to Earthcote Sand Paint colour card). Custom tints can be achieved using eco-friendly Zero VOC, Glycol-Free, APEO-Free, and Formaldehyde-Free stainers.
Application Guidelines
Preparation
Proper surface preparation is crucial. Ensure all surfaces are clean, sound, and primed accordingly. For detailed preparation guidelines, consult your nearest Paintsmiths store.
Application Process
- Apply Midas Masonry Primer using a brush or roller, ensuring even coverage. Allow to dry.
- Apply two coats of Earthcote Sand Paint Coarse using a Hamiltons 225mm Polypile roller and a Hamiltons 50mm Utility brush for cutting in. Maintain proper spread rates and drying times between coats.
- For compromised or inferior plaster work, apply Midas Cemproof Slurry before proceeding with the standard application.
Coverage & Drying Times
- Midas Masonry Primer: ±7m²/L | Drying time: >12 hours
- Earthcote Sand Paint Coarse: ±4m²/L on quality plaster | Drying time: 4 hours between coats (weather dependent)
Important Notes
- Do not leave coatings for more than 48 hours between applications to prevent surface contamination.
- Maintain a wet edge during application to avoid lap marks and ensure an even finish.
- Aging Effect: Over time, exposure to UV will naturally lighten the colour, enhancing its organic, weathered aesthetic.
- Textured coatings are batch-tinted, so colour consistency is not guaranteed between batches. Order sufficient quantities upfront.
- If scaffolding is used, ensure adequate spacing for ease of application.
- Avoid partial touch-ups—redo entire panels for uniformity.
Cleaning & Maintenance
- Midas Masonry Primer: Clean with mineral turpentine
- Earthcote Sand Paint Fine: Clean with water
