Application process of Worn Leather.
Priming.
Apply one coat of Earthcote DTE Matt, tinted to your chosen Earthcote Worn Leather colour, with a Hamilton’s 225mm Polypile roller and 50mm Utility brush. Spread rate: ±7m²/L. Allow to dry for 4 hours before overcoating.
Coating:
Apply two coats of Worn Leather textured wall paint using a Hamilton’s 150mm Fibreglass brush. Use crisscross strokes to stretch the product. Spread rate: ±8m²/L. Allow 4 hours drying time between coats.
Important: Always maintain a wet edge to prevent lap marks and inconsistencies. Do not attempt to patch the coating.
Sealing:
Apply two coats of Earthcote Wall Wax with a lint-free mutton cloth or a buffing machine with a lambswool pad. Spread rate: ±40m² per 2L tin. Additional coats enhance richness and depth.
Note: Wall Wax is a decorative finish with limited sealing properties. For high-traffic areas, use Midas Colour Retaining Primer or Midas Water-Based Twin Pack Acrithane.
Preventing issues and guidelines.
- Walls must be dry before painting (max. 10% moisture content).
- Ideal temperature: 10ºC–35ºC; Humidity: 10%–85%.
- White spots may appear due to lime content—this is part of the product’s natural character.
- Avoid storing or applying in cold, damp conditions to prevent “lime blooming.”
- Stir colorant immediately after adding it to prevent lumps.
- Colour may vary between batches—ensure sufficient product is ordered from the same batch.
- Only use clean tools to maintain finish quality.
- Always protect surrounding surfaces with drop sheets.
- Taping edges ensures neat finishes.
- Over-applying the product can lead to “lime burn.” Follow the recommended spread rate.
- Thoroughly polish Earthcote Wall Wax for a shiny finish. If not polished well, the surface may appear dull.
- Do not apply Earthcote Wall Wax too thickly, as it becomes difficult to polish once dry.
- Take your time—rushing may affect the final look.
